All about the cream
For as long as anyone can remember, Crantit Dairy, owned by the Bichan family on the wild and beautiful land of Orkney, has taken daily delivery of fresh, creamy milk from the local cows. There are few places in the world where the grazing is as pure and pollution-free as it is on Orkney and it shows in the richness of the cream.
Orcadians have always known about the quality of our local produce but a few years ago we decided our cream deserved wider appreciation, so we started using it to make Orkney Ice Cream. Today you can buy Orkney Ice Cream in 17 flavours and we’re always exploring for more, but whatever flavour you choose, it’s the cream that makes the difference.

Wild and Beautiful
Perched off the northern coast of Britain, the feather in the cap of Scotland, Orkney is a collection of islands famous for its rock stack, the Old Man of Hoy, its Neolithic village, Skara Brae, and the World War I and II Naval base, Scapa Flow. It is a land of treeless sandstone hills, grassy plains and rugged rock formations, blown and shaped by the North Atlantic winds.
The Orcadian people can trace their roots back to the Vikings, the Picts and beyond to the Stone Age, as evidenced by the islands’ famous standing stones dating back at least 5,000 years. This history, geography and climate of Orkney all add up to one thing: flavour. A distinctive creaminess you can taste in every mouthful of Orkney Ice Cream.

ORKNEY ORIGINAL – “A pure white ice cream, speaks of milk in the pot. The flavour is absolutely milk – pure, milking parlour milk. We were milking Daisy! This is pure and simple frozen dairy with no additions to take us away from the milk”

“Creamy and milky, the vanilla is very pure and this is an honest vanilla ice cream made well with good cream and milk. Traditional and very pleasing.”
